The Art of Stories: Writing Character: Nov 5, 12: A two day intensive workshop
An ONLINE writing workshop for Short Stories. Open to ALL levels.

Sunday 1-3pm EST
In this intensive workshop, we will focus on how to build character and work on different kinds ofPOV
We will do readings and learn from the Masters— Munro and Lorie Moore.
Students will also workshop excerpts of their own work and/or write in class. exercises via prompts.
This class is suitable for those already with a body of work they want edited by their peers but also those who need that slight guidance in making the first step.
Assignments will include writing/editing your stories, reading short texts, close sentence level discussions and dissections;
Learning to pitch your work.

Instructor: Buku Sarkar.
Buku is a fiction writer and photographer on the side. She earned her MA in Creative Writing from University of East Anglia and her BA in Honors Writing from The New School. Her first book was published earlier this year, a collection of short stories titled Not Quite A Disaster After All. But asides, she has written for various magazines including NYRB, NYTimes, Sewanee Review, where she was awarded the Andrew Lytle Best Short Story of the year; Threepenny Review, ZYZZYVA, Huffington Post.
She has a background in publishing and journalism and recently guest edited issues for the KGB Literary Journal.

What Happens Now? Once you’ve paid/registered for the class, you will receive a confirmation email that is automated. That means you are indeed registered.
A week or two before class is due to begin, I will write to you all and explain what happens, the structure of the class, what to expect, what to bring etc.
Please also note, there will be short texts assigned to read and small passages to write. They won’t be long and laborious. I know we have other lives.
